Dear owner of Capital Remodeling, Inc.,

We would like to take a moment to thank the professional, courteous people at Capital Remodeling, Inc. who took the time to help us with the arduous task of improving our home.  Over the past few years we have worked with Capital Remodeling, Inc. to add new windows and siding, as well as to completely gut and renovate our three bathrooms and kitchen in our forty-three year old home.  Home improvements are definitely a less expensive way to go than moving these days!  However, since our family is expanding we have decided to move to a new, larger home in the area.  We look forward to using the Capital Remodeling, Inc. services when we need some work done to the new house.

The reason we are writing is to let Capital Remodeling, Inc. know how the value of our home has more than doubled since our improvements were completed.  We want to be sure that Capital Remodeling, Inc. staff understands the financial impact that the home improvements can have on a family.  There is no way we would be able to afford our beautiful new home if it weren’t for Capital Remodeling, Inc. or the local market conditions.  Plus, the buyers just loved the gorgeous maple cabinets in the kitchen!

We want to let everyone there know how glad we are that Capital Remodeling, Inc. contacted us.  Since we don’t know anyone in the business we were skeptical as to the type of people we would be dealing with.  Capital Remodeling, Inc. services were so good that we have referred you to at least five customers.

Keep up the great work and commitment to quality, affordable home improvements!

Regards,

The Anderson family

Capital Remodeling Inc,

To Whom It May Concern:

We just want to Congratulate Capital Remodeling, Inc. and its employees for a superb remodeling job in our home.  We are thrilled with the windows, kitchen and bathroom that Capital Remodeling, Inc. installed.

Since Capital Remodeling, Inc. installed the windows first I will comment on them first.  They are beautiful and work perfectly. We had several windstorms in March and the windows that Capital Remodeling, Inc. installed were quiet, never rattled and kept the draft out.  The sliding glass door is a dream to work, unlike our former 40- year old sliding door that we could barely budge.  The Capital Remodeling, Inc. installers were fast, polite, neat, and friendly.  The entire job was done in one day and I would recommend these windows to anyone.

The next project that Capital Remodeling, Inc. installed was the kitchen. Oh, my, what a difference!  I cannot compliment the Capital Remodeling, Inc. employees that did all of the work enough.  The Capital Remodeling, Inc. workers are top notch!  They are skilled, capable, friendly, trustworthy, clean, polite, and timely.  They gave extra attention to all of the detail in the kitchen and made it work!  Family, neighbors, and friends have all come in and have been amazed at how gorgeous my new kitchen is.

Finally, the bathroom that Capital Remodeling, Inc. was outstanding!  The bathroom came together perfectly.  Between our ideas for that bath and the help of Capital Remodeling, Inc. employees, we created a masterpiece!  You could show our bathroom in Better Homes and Gardens. The shower is large for my extra tall husband (6’6”) to take a shower and not have to get on his knees and wash his hair.  The tile work that Capital Remodeling, Inc. did is also fantastic.  The tile work is fantastic and the Corian shower base is durable and fits our needs perfectly.

I would highly recommend Capital Remodeling, Inc. to anyone and offer my comments or phone number to anyone that would like to discuss Capital Remodeling, Inc. further with me.

In our opinion, to be the recipients of the quality workmanship, fair prices, and a beautiful outcome that Capital Remodeling, Inc. offers, is somewhat rare and extremely gratifying.

Thank you to everyone at Capital Remodeling, Inc., you’ve made a huge difference in our home.

Most Sincerely,

Lisa

Why is the window seal that insulates a double paned window so important?

Capital Remodeling, Inc. a leader in the window business since the 1980’s, says that one of the number reasons that double paned replacement windows fail is due to seal failure, which is why Capital Remodeling only uses one of the best seals in the industry.

Seal failure occurs when an inferior seal around the edge of an insulated glass unit, known as IGU in the industry, fails and allows moist air to flow between the two panes. (or three panes if triple paned glass).  Often the seal will fail because the temperature changes between hot and cold on both inside and outside makes the glass unit expand and contract.

Once the seal breaks, the air with moisture also carries dirt and grime and other particles that end up sticking to the inside of the glass.”  This clouds the window, and is impossible to wipe clean or get rid since the dirty film is located on the inside of the glass unit.”  The only answer for most homeowners is that they have to buy new windows all over again. This happens to thousands of homeowners that either bought cheap windows from a company or the windows were installed from a builder that did not put in the best quality sealed windows.

Another problem with seals breaking is the fact that argon gas can escape overtime.  Argon gas is a clear, odorless, safe gas that is denser then air and is put into windows to help give them a better energy value rating.  But guess what?  Most window seals allow the argon gas to escape, thereby overtime the replacement window no longer gives the homeowner the same energy savings that they paid for just a few years ago.

Capital Remodeling inc makes their windows using Duralite.  Unlike most other spacers that have some sort of metal support inside their spacer, Duralite uses a polycarbon similar to what someone would find in a nice par of sunglasses.  Because there is no metal in Capital Remodeling’s window seal, the seal is not as susceptible to expansion or conduction of heat and cold.  In fact, through three different tests, a German, U.S., and Canadian test, the Duralite seal used on Capital Remodeling’s windows showed that during a simulated 20 year period, that 98% of argon gas was retained. This Duralite seal gives one of the best energy value ratings on the market, prevents seal failure for a lifetime and will maintain the argon gas in the window. What’s Up With the Oceans, Whales and Pollution?

Author Joan Barton
Whales and pollution should not go hand in hand however, the fact is they do, whales are greatly affected by human actions that bring together whales and pollution.

* Contaminants
* Sound
* Plastic

Contaminants. Whales are polluted from contaminants dumped in to the oceans, chemicals which cause whales pollution, are harbored in their fatty tissues and organs, contaminated with PCB and DDT’s from as long as 30 years ago, highly toxic levels were found in beached whales today. Other whale pollutants prevalent are flame retardant’s PBDE that travel many miles in the atmosphere and PFOs that do not break down ever, being passed on in the food chain, up to human level. Some chemicals are endocrine disruptor’s. The Transient killer whales are susceptible to pollution from toxic substances that weaken their immune system, also making them more prone to problems with reproduction, increasing the chances of more whales with pollution. Belugas also called sea Canaries because of their harmonious voices. Evidence shows that a high number of belunga whales have pollution from the St. Lawrence River region and died of cancer. Autopsies also revealed a high level of exposure to PAHs, the Alcan aluminum plant is upstream, and poisonous metals from it end up in the water, even though this plant has reduced air emissions, the whales eat small invertebrates that live in toxic sentiment, who eat contaminated algae, which adds to belugas demise. The toxins that they ingest stay in the fat cells they are passed on to the fat rich milk for their calf’s this in turn is passed on to the next generation, and so on, building up with each one. Puget Sound Alaska is facing the decline of salmon, Orca populations are also dropping as they eat the salmon.

Sound. Whales and pollution through sound is also of serious concern explorations for petroleum causes continual underwater booms. Military operations using lower-level sonar that can cast up to 230 dB near the source. The activity from cruise ships, ocean liners, tankers and submarines, all contributing to noise pollution that can seriously affect the marine life including whales. Pollution by sound can cause whales to abandon natural habitat and go off course also throwing off their ability to hunt affecting whales communications systems through loud background sounds, the blue whale in particular, whose sound can travel over 1000 miles, enabling it to communicate with others now because of sound pollution, its range is only a 10th the size of what it was.

Plastic. Whales and pollution from plastic, it may be fun to see released balloons, watching them float off into the distance, but did you consider where they might end up? Floating hundreds of miles, ending up in side mammals, sea turtles, dolphins and otters also mistake them for jellyfish swallow them, which instead of providing nourishment block their digestive tract and end up killing them. The area of the Pacific ocean almost from Japan to Hawaii is home to an enormous floating plastic debris pile from basketball’s, grocery bags to toys, some have been ground up floating in small confetti like particles. This area is a vortex where the ocean circulates slowly because of little wind and extreme high pressure systems, it’s growing each year, this plastic garbage comes from people throwing garbage from cruise ships oil platforms and plastic pellets from industry. paddling in plastic

Interesting fact it takes only a quart of oil or some kinds of paint to contaminate many thousands of gallons of water, creatures that rely upon waterproofing (fur feathers) can die of hypothermia from just one drop.

Global Warming Facts

Author: Anna Williams

These days, there seems to be a lot of controversy about Global Warming. Some say that Global Warming is a fact, others say it’s not. But regardless of whether or not Global Warming is a fact, let’s step aside from the arguments on the subject, and take a common-sense approach. In this article we will take a look at some of the issues involved.

What is Global Warming?

We can take a look at the definition of global warming - without taking sides or getting into vested interests, political motivations, reasons, or causes.

The definition of global warming in its purity is “an overall increase in world temperatures.” As you can see, whether this has to do with greenhouse emissions, or whether it is caused by a natural phenomena, has no bearing on whether there is an average temperature increase.

Is There an Overall Increase in World Temperatures?

Alright, now we can take a look at what scientists say about world temperatures.

Again, we are going to leave out the reasons why, and simply look at whether or not the Earth’s general temperature is rising.

According to NASA scientists, the average temperature of the earth rose by one degree Celsius, over the last century. This is based on actual measurements taken with exact measuring instruments.

Another report, compiled and submitted by 600 scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, issued the following statement:

“Warming of the climate system is unequivocal.”

These 600 scientists sifted through thousands of studies and reports, in order to come to the above conclusion.

Even scientists who are “opposed” to the global warming theory are not contradicting the fact that the earth’s temperature is rising. These scientists are only saying that global warming is a natural phenomena, and is not caused by man.

The Causes of Global Warming There are several factors that could contribute to or influence global warming.

Greenhouse gases are gases that prevent heat from escaping from the Earth’s atmosphere. A few examples of greenhouse gases are:

- Carbon Dioxide - A minor but important part of the Earth’s atmosphere. Carbon dioxide prevents heat from escaping the earth, by blocking the infrared radiation reflected off the Earth’s surface from leaving the atmosphere.

- Methane - A gas produced through the decomposition of waste (in landfills, animal waste, and decomposition of food in human and animal digestive systems). It is created by the production and distribution of natural gas, oil and coal. It is also is produced by incomplete fossil-fuel combustion.

- Nitrous Oxide - Another gas produced through the use of commercial fertilizers, natural fertilizers

, and fossil fuel combustion (cars, airplanes, and conventional power plants, to name a few).- Chlorofluorocarbons - Commonly referred to as CFC gases, these are produced primarily by our industries, and are used for products such as, styrofoam, spray-can propellants, refrigerants, electronic circuit boards, and many more.

- Water Vapor - This is a completely natural gas, caused by the sun evaporating water from our oceans.

As you can see, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide are produced mainly by human resources, whereas chlorofluorocarbons are exclusively produced by industrial installations.

Out of all the above, interestingly enough, the greenhouse gases which have the largest effect on global warming are water vapors. This fact will no doubt please all critics of the “global warming theory”.

You have to keep in mind, however, the cyclic effect of global warming. A slight increase in temperature will increase the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere, which in turn will increase the temperature, and so on. Thus, a slight effect created by other greenhouse gases has a much larger impact, due to the creation of additional water vapor in the atmosphere.

Greenhouse gases: Facts and Figures

let’s go over some facts and figures here. Again, keep in mind that these are measurements taken by scientific tools. They are not statements for or against global warming.

- The amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere has increased by 25 percent since the early 1800s. Ten percent of this increase has occurred between 1958 and the present day.

- There are two main factors that responsible for the increase of carbon dioxide. The leading cause is the burning of fossil fuels. Next in line is deforestation.

- Methane content in the world’s atmosphere increases at a rate of 0.6 percent per year, by current measurements. The atmospheric methane content is now more than twice as high as it was before the Industrial Age, which started in the early 1800s.

The Effects of Global Warming

I am not the doom-and-gloom sort of person, so I am going to spare you the details here. But I do have an opinion on this subject, so I will share it with you.

Regardless of whether the globe is warming or not, it is simply common sense to take care of the environment you live in.

The plain truth of the matter is that carbon monoxide is unhealthy, methane makes for unpleasant breathing, and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere is no laughing matter.

While the lack of ozone

might make for faster tanning at the beach, the long term effects are not as desirable. What You Can do About Global Warming

Believe it or not, you are important - what you do and say is listened to by others, and does make a difference. It doesn’t require a lot of effort to do something about conditions in the environment. A little extra care will go quite a long way. Many are already doing it, and all of us need to get aboard.

It starts as simply as recycling your waste, saving energy

where you can, or even planting a tree.
